Certification of Documents as True Copies
I can certify that a photocopy is a true and accurate copy of an original document. The original document must be presented at the appointment — copies of copies cannot be certified.
Common documents include:
- Passports & travel documents
- Birth, marriage & death certificates
- Driving licences
- Irish Residency Permits (IRP)
- Educational & professional qualifications
Some organisations (e.g. banks, solicitors, notary publics) may require certification by a specific authority. Please confirm they accept a Peace Commissioner's certification before booking your appointment.
Identity & Verification Form Certification
I can certify the identity and verification sections of official application forms where a Peace Commissioner is an accepted certifying authority.
Common examples include:
- Irish citizenship & naturalisation application forms
- Passport application forms
- Immigration & residency-related forms
- Government agency application forms
- Public service & benefit application forms
Certification requirements vary depending on the form and the issuing authority. Always check in advance that a Peace Commissioner is an accepted certifier for your specific form before booking.
Witnessing of Signatures
I can witness signatures on certain official forms and statutory declarations, provided the signer is present in person with valid photo identification.
Typical use cases:
- Statutory declarations
- Sworn statements (where a Peace Commissioner is accepted)
- Official application forms requiring a witnessed signature
- Consent forms and authorisation documents (where applicable)
The person signing must be physically present and must produce valid photo ID. Signatures cannot be witnessed remotely or retrospectively. Some documents require a Commissioner for Oaths or solicitor — please verify before booking.
